Who we are
Europe Journeys (france-four-seasons.vercel.app) is a free, non-commercial travel guide made by a private individual. You can contact the author on Telegram or Instagram.
What we collect
The site has its own small visit counter — no Google Analytics, advertising networks or social-media trackers. When you browse, your browser sends us:
- a random visitor ID and session ID created in your browser (they contain nothing about you);
- which pages, landscapes and routes you open, and how long you stay;
- the page you came from, your browser language and screen size;
- your browser, operating system and device type, read from the user-agent;
- your approximate country and city, which our hosting provider works out from your IP address. We do not store your IP address.
We do not collect names, e-mail addresses, payment details or precise location. The trip calculator works entirely in your browser — nothing you enter there is sent to us.
Why
Only to see how the site is used — which countries and routes are popular and what to improve. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving the site (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). The data is never sold or shared for advertising.
Cookies and browser storage
The site sets no cookies. It uses your browser’s storage only for:
- the random visitor and session IDs for the counter;
- your chosen language and the city you travel from in the calculator.
You can delete all of this at any time by clearing the site data in your browser.
Do Not Track
If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal, the visit counter does not run at all.
How long we keep it
Visit records are kept for a little over a year and then deleted automatically.
Other services
- Vercel hosts the site and processes requests; Neon stores the visit records in a database.
- Google Fonts delivers the fonts, so Google receives your IP address when the page loads.
- Photos and videos come from Wikimedia Commons but are served from our own site.
- Links to Telegram and Instagram open those services, which have their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of data about you, or object to its use. Because we do not know who you are, the easiest way is to clear your browser data — the random ID then disappears. You can also write to the author, and you have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
The site is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
